Paper and Presentation Types

Two types of Papers:

EC³ introduced different papers and presentations. These intend to improve the conference’s quality and attendees’ experience.

1. Scientific Papers

  • These are the regular “technical papers” as in the previous EC3 conferences.
  • It stresses stronger requirements on scientific contributions and the intellectual merits of the accepted papers.
  • Included in annual EC³ proceedings (available online at no cost).
  • Recommended length: ~8 pages, including references.

2. Late-breaking abstracts

  • The Late-breaking abstracts category allows the submission of recent unpublished work on any of the conference topics for which results might not have been available by the original submission deadline.
  • Your contribution can be up to two pages in A4 format, including figures, photographs, tables, references, etc.

Furthermore, EC³ promises to be an exciting conference concerning the quality and diversity of its participants. The structure and review process adopted for EC³ is structured to promote high-quality contributions to the Construction IT and Management community. In addition, the conference offers a unique value proposition to authors and the community, including:

1. Best papers as keynote speeches

Authors of the highest-ranked papers will be invited to present their work as keynote talks.

This will give the chosen authors the opportunity to present their work in full-attendance plenary sessions, and over a more extended time slot than in standard parallel-track sessions.

2. Best papers in special issues of international journals

The authors of the best papers submitted to the EC³ Conference will be invited to submit extended versions of their papers for publication to a special issue on a high-quality journal in the field.

3. Awards

Two awards for the highest ranked papers: the EC³ Best Paper Award and the EC³ Student Best Paper Award for contributions primarily prepared by graduate students.

4. Open Access

All accepted papers will be made available to all registered participants two weeks before the conference.

They will become “open access” to the public shortly after the conference. Papers will be archived at libraries in line with ISBN requirements.

5. DOI Numbers

The conference organising team will provide individual DOI numbers to each accepted paper. This will ensure robust tracking of citations and enhanced visibility in publication and citation databases like Scopus or ISI Web of Science.

DOI numbers are rarely sought by organisers of Construction IT and Management conferences, but we believe this will add significant value for paper authors.

6. Presentation Videos

Talks will be recorded and posted on the event’s YouTube channel (with the permission of the presenter). Links will be posted to the corresponding papers.
